You May Be Eligible For Reduced-Cost Phone Service!
Universal Lifeline Telephone Service (ULTS), also called “California Lifeline,” is a program providing discounted local telephone service to low-income Californians. Among the options are flat-rate local telephone service, measured local telephone service, service connection discounts and more.
You qualify for California Lifeline if you or another person in your household is enrolled in any one or more of the following public-assistance programs: Medicaid/Medi-Cal, SSI, Food Stamps, Healthy Families Category A, TANF, WIC, LIHEAP, Federal Public Housing Assistance or Section 8, National School Lunch’s Free Lunch Program, Bureau of Indian Affairs General Assistance.
If you are not enrolled in any of the above programs, you may also qualify if your total before-tax household income does not exceed these limits:

| 4 members | $31,200 |
| Each additional member: Add $5,300 | |
To sign up for the discount program you must contact your current local phone service provider, or a local telephone company if you do not already have one, and ask to apply for California Lifeline.
